노아의 법(Noahide Laws)

1991년 조지 H.W. 부시 대통령이 랍비들에게 둘러싸여 노아의 법에 사인함

1991년 1월 31일 미국 의회에서 교육의 날 관련법안으로 ‘노아의 법’(Noahide Laws)이 통과되었다. 내용은 예수님 믿는 크리스찬은 우상숭배자이므로 목을 베어 죽이고, 모든 사람이 7가지 노아의 법을 지켜야 한다는 것이다. 탈무드는 이 법이 모세가 시나이산에서 십계명을 받기 전부터 아담과 노아에게 계시된 율법이라고 한다. 율법은 원래 유대인이 지키는 것이지만 이방인도 노아의 법을 지킨다면 친구로 인정해 준다. 미국 유대인을 중심으로 만든 이 법은 말세의 비상사태 시 기독교인을 핍박하기 위해 사용할 것으로 보인다.

THE SEVEN LAWS OF NOAH

노아의 7가지 법

1. Idolatry is forbidden. Man is commanded to believe in the One God alone and worship only Him.

1. 우상숭배는 금지됨. 사람은 유일신만 믿고 경배해야 함

-against entertaining the thought that there exists a deity except the Lord

(to worship Jesus as the Messiah is blasphemy according to the Talmud and punishable by decapitation).

-주 외에 다른 신이 있다고 생각하는 것을 대적한다.

(예수를 메시야로 경배하는 것은 불경죄로 탈무드에 의하면 참수형에 처한다.)

2. Incestuous and adulterous relations are forbidden. Human beings are not sexual objects, nor is pleasure the ultimate goal of life.

근친상간이나 간음은 금지된다. 인간은 성적 대상체가 아니고, 쾌락은 인생의 궁극적 목적이 아니다.

3. Murder is forbidden. The life of a human being, formed in God's image, is sacred.

살인은 금지된다. 하나님의 형상을 닮은 인간의 생명은 신성하다.

4. Cursing the name of God is forbidden. Besides honoring and respecting God, we learn from this precept that our speech must be sanctified, as that is the distinctive sign which separated man from the animals.

하나님의 이름을 저주하는 것은 금지된다. 우리는 신을 경외해야 할 뿐만 아니라 말을 신성시 해야 한다. 이것이 인간과 동물을 구분 짓는 표이다.

5. Theft is forbidden. The world is not ours to do with as we please.

도적질은 금지된다. 세상은 우리 하고 싶은 대로 주어진 것이 아니다.

6. Eating the flesh of a living animal is forbidden. This teaches us to be sensitive to cruelty to animals. (This was commanded to Noah for the first time along with the permission of eating meat.)

살아있는 동물로부터 얻은 고기를 먹는 것은 금지된다. 동물을 잔인하게 대해선 안 된다.

(이 계명은 고기를 먹는 허락과 함께 노아에게 처음 주어졌다.

7. Mankind is commanded to establish courts of justice and a just social order to enforce the first six laws and enact any other useful laws or customs.

인류는 정의의 법정을 세워 앞의 6계명을 지키도록 강제하고, 다른 유용한 법과 관습도 법제화한다.

The Talmud also states the penalty for disobedience: "One additional element of greater severity is that violation of any one of the seven laws subjects the Noahide to capital punishment by decapitation. (Sanh. 57A)"

탈무드는 불복종에 대한 형벌을 언급한다. 노아의 7계명 중 하나라도 위반하면 참수형에 처한다.

계시록 20:4 또 내가 보좌들을 보니, 그들이 그 위에 앉았는데 심판이 그들에게 주어졌더라. 또 예수에 대한 증거와 하나님의 말씀으로 인하여 목베임을 당한 사람들의 혼들도 보았는데, 그들은 그 짐승에게나 그 형상에게 경배하지 아니하였을 뿐만 아니라 그의 표를 그들의 이마 위에나 손에도 받지 아니하였더라. 그러므로 그들은 살아서 그리스도와 함께 천 년을 통치하더라.
